The Humerus :

The humerus is the 3rd bone of the upper extremity. It is the long bone. It has two end and one shaft.

It has two ends :  

  • 1) upper end
  • 2) lower end

1. Upper end has :     

  • 1) Head of the humerus
  • 2) Greater tuberosity
  • 3) Lesser tuberosity
  • 4) Anatomical neck 
  • 5) Surgical neck
  • 6) Bicipital grove

2. Lower end has two parts :   

  • I) Articular part
  • II) Non-articular part

I. Articular part has :               

  • 1) Capitulum
  • 2) Trochlea

II. Non articular part has :         

  • 1) Medial epicondyle
  • 2) Lateral epicondyle
  • 3) Medial supra condyler ridge
  • 4) lateral supra condyler ridge
  • 5) Olecranon fossa
  • 6) Coronoid fossa
  • 7) Radial fossa

Shaft or Body :

Shaft has One Tubersity. It’s name Deltoid tubersity.

Shaft has three border and three-surface

Three border :   

  • 1) Anterior border
  • 2) Media! border
  • 3) Lateral border

Three surface :  

  • 1) Antero medial surface
  • 2) Antero lateral surface
  • 3) Posterior surface.
