The Femur :
The Femur is the longest and strongest bone of the body. It has two ends and one shaft.
Upper end of Femur :
upper end has :
1) Head
2 ) Fovea
3) Neck
4) Greater Trochanter
5) Lesser Trochanter
6) Inter Trochanter line
7) Inter Trochanter crest.

Shaft or Body :
The shaft is more or less cylindrical. It is narrowest in the middle, and more expanded inferiorly than superiorly. It is convex forwards and is directed obliquely downwards and medially.
It has three Part :
1) upper 1/3
2) Middle 1/3
3) Lower 1/3
The upper ⅓ has : Four borders and Four surfaces.
Four borders :
1) Medial border
2) Lateral border
3) Spiral line
4) Gluteal tuberosity
Four surfaces :
1) Anterior surface
2) Medial surface
3) Lateral surface
4) Posterior surface
The Middle 1/3 has : Three borders and three surfaces.
Three borders :
1) Medial border
2) Lateral border
3) Posterior border
Three Surfaces :
1) Anterior surface
2) Medial surface
3) Lateral surface
The Lower 1/3 has : Four borders and Four surfaces.
Four borders:
1) Medial border
2) Lateral border
3) Medial supracondylar line
4) Lateral Supracondylar line
Four surfaces :
1) Anterior surface
2) Medial surface
3) Lateral surface
4) Popliteal surface

Lower end of Femur :
The lower end has :
1) Medial condyle
2) Lateral condyle
3) Medial Epicondyle
4) Lateral Epicondyle
5) Intercondylar notch
6) Patela surface
7) Popliteal surface
8) Adductor tubercle.
