The Hip bone is the first bone of the lower extremity. 

It has three parts :

1) Ilium

2) Ischium

3) Pubis

1. Ilium of Hip bone : 

The ilium forms The upper expanded plate part of the hip bone. 

It has three borders : 

  • 1) Anterior  border
  • 2) Posterior border
  • 3) Medial border

It has three surfaces :

  • 1) Glutial surface
  • 2) Iliac surface
  • 3) Sacropelvic surface

It has four Iliac spine :

  • 1) Anterior Superior iliac spine
  • 2) Anterior Inferior iliac spine
  • 3) Posterior Superior iliac spine
  • 4) Posterior Inferior iliac spine

It has iliac crest.

It has iliac fossa.

It has a greater sciatic notch.

It has iliac tuberosity.

2. The ischium :

The ischium forms the Posteroinferior part of the hip bone.

It has :

  • Ischial spine.
  • Lesser  sciatic notch.
  • Ischial Tuberosity,   
  • Acetabulum and 
  • Acetabular notch.

3. Pubis :

The pubis  forms the Anterior part of the hip bone.

It has : 

  • Obturator foramen
  • Pubis crest
  • Pubis tubercle 
  • Superior ramus of Pubis. 
  • Inferior ramus of pubis. and
  • Pubis symphysis
